WEST NILE VIRUS CASES CONTINUE

Cases of west Nile virus throughout the nation remain steady. A new centers for disease control and prevention report says there was over 3,600 west Nile cases last year.
That’s about the same number reported between 2004 and 2006.
The CDC predicts the rate will continue like this for the foreseeable future. The agency says the findings highlight the need for ongoing surveillance, mosquito control, personal protection, and research into west Nile prevention.
The findings appear in the CDC’s latest morbidity and mortality weekly report.
