Your waist size could mean life. Or death.
New research says a large waist can almost double your risk of premature death.
A team of European doctors looked at data on more than 350,000 people.
By comparing subjects with the same body mass index, the risk of premature death increased as the waist circumference did.
Each five-centimeter increase meant a mortality risk seventeen percent higher in men and thirteen percent higher in women.
The study also found a higher body mass index — a measurement of your height versus your weight is significantly related to mortality.
Researchers found the lowest risk of death was at a b-m-i of approximately twenty-five-point-three in men. And twenty-four-point-three in women.
