VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS COULD BE GIVEN THE BOOT

The volunteer firefighters for the city of mission may soon cease to exist nearly a century after they were first established.
Thirty-two volunteer mission firefighters are waiting to see what will happen if and when the city commission decides to restructure the volunteer firefighter department or do away with it completely.
The issue took center stage shortly after the city received a letter from the full time employed city firefighters which detailed undisclosed complaints regarding those firefighters with volunteer status.
But, the volunteers say they are doing this to help their community and neither for money nor any other interest. The mission city commission on the 28th of this month will reach a final decision.
