UTPA Student Dies in Front of Father

father as he dropped her off to meet with a friend this
morning in San Juan. Her peers have a strong message for
drivers. A young college student with big dreams to succeed
in life was run over just before 7 this morning as she
crossed the street in front of the San Juan police
department located at the intersection of Raul Longoria and
Sioux Road. The victim, 20-year-old Jasmin Isaias, was
meeting a friend to catch a ride to school. UTPA students
feel they run the same risk every day, because drivers are
careless. UTPA student, Jarrett Castillo say people need
more time at the crosswalks. The driver responsible for the
college students death was required to provide a blood
sample to determine if he was under the influence of a
controlled substance or alcohol. Speed might have been a
factor.
