The husband of the first American to die of swine flu has started a petition against a pig farm for the potential wrongful death of the Harlingen woman. 33-year-old Judy Trunnell died on May 5 after being diagnosed with the H1N1 virus. The Mercedes special education teacher suffered complications in her pregnancy and was forced to deliver a healthy baby girl through a cesarean section. Steve Trunnell wants information from Smithfield Foods Inc., doing business as Granjas Carroll de Mexico, the operator of the pig farm where, according to the lawsuit, the swine flu is believed to have originated. The H1N1 virus is being blamed for three deaths in the U.S. The first was a Mexican toddler treated at a Houston hospital, Judy Trunnel is the second and officials site a Washington man as the third. We’ll have more on petition tomorrow right here on Fox 2 News.
