Trial in cop shooting continues

The trail against a man accused of shooting a Harlingen police officer continued today.

It was a day where personal statements and evidence was presented to the jury.

The district attorney presented letters supposedly written by the defendant in which allegedly Abraham Mar had made it clear his intent to kill a police officer.

Carlos Diaz, the officer that survived a flurry of gunfire, made a emotional statement in which he told the jury how he approached the vehicle after a routine traffic stop.

Officer Diaz went on to describe how mar grabbed a rifle and shot him a total of four times. The defendant, Abraham Mar, could face up to 25 years in jail.
