Towing companies on thin ice

December 3, 2008 News   Print Print   Email this Article Email this Article   1 Comment

Two local politicians are taking their claims of illegal towing practices in Hidalgo County to the Texas attorney general’s office.
State representative veronica Gonzales is joining state senator Juan Chuy Hinojosa in his push for an investigation into the alleged illegal practices of two Hidalgo county towing companies. Some say that the companies post their own “no parking” signs and then tow vehicles at will. Hinojosa says the prices are so astronomically high, its like holding the car hostage for ransom. In a letter to general abbot, Hinojosa asks the office to pursue legal action against these deceptive practices.
