Tire spikes used on Police during a high speed chase

The police have been using tire spikes for years to try and stop criminals from driving away. The spikes flatten the tires and disable the getaway vehicle. The tables were turned last night when the bad guys used them on the police.

It happened around 9:30 last night in La Joya, when two suspected drug smugglers tossed homemade spike strips on the road as border patrol agents tried to pull them over.
DPS officials wouldn’t give a number but they did tell fox2 news several cars were damaged.

According to police, the alleged smugglers drove to the banks of the river near Patricio Perez street in Havana. They escaped by swimming across the river to the Mexican side.
