Close to 1, 000 pounds of marijuana seized is the result of three drug
busts Thursday. One occurred at around 9:30pm in the community of La
Rosita. This after a pursuit initiated when the driver of a white Ford
Expedition refused to stop for a traffic violation. Two men fled by
foot. Not even air operations from the department of public safety
were able to stop them.
The second drug bust happened a little after 7pm on Expressway 83 by
Guadalupe Flores St, when authorities located another Ford Expedition,
this one in red, for a traffic violation. The driver admitted he was
transporting nearly 300 pounds of marijuana and is now in ICE custody.
Also on Expressway 83, in Alto Bonito, Starr County Officials located
the driver of a maroon Buick who failed to use his turning signal. The
subject refused to allow officials to search his vehicle, a K9 was
called and alerted officials of the drugs inside. There the subject
identified as 25-year-old Salvador Mora, a Harlingen resident, was
immediately handcuffed.
And the driver of the red expedition faces federal charges. While Mora
faces state charges. While this investigation continues, the other two
men who fled from authorities are still out on the loose.
