The Contraceptive: Essure
A new form of birth control called Essure debuted five years ago and its proven to be very effective. For women who are prepared to not have any more children the Essure procedure may be their best bet.
Samira Mohamed-Kesaris M.D.,OB/GYN says, “The Essure procedure is an in office that takes 15 to 20 minutes and it uses micro inserts in the tubes that cause scarring so the egg can longer meet with the sperm.”
There are no cuts with the procedure therefore no incisions no risk of bleeding and general or no anesthesia. In fact it seems the benefits are numerous.
Samira Mohamed-Kesaris M.D.,OB/GYN says, “Quick recovery, most patients that same day have a little bit of cramping the next day back to work. Its fantastic! There is no risk of general anesthesia .You don’t have to go to the hospital. Costs are definitely down.”
After three months a test if performed to ensure the tubes are completely blocked. So far no pregnancies have been reported with the use of Essure. The cost of the procedure is very affordable so visit with a doctor for more information if you are interested.
