Teen leads Police on Pursuit

January 22, 2009 News   Print Print   Email this Article Email this Article   No Comments

An erratic driver takes police on a high-speed chase near the Sharyland school district and then ultimately rams into a tree.
The 17-year-old driver had apparently stolen the blue Pontiac vibe from Alton. When police attempted to stop the car, the teen sped off. Officers in turn, pulled out all the stops to veer the driver away from the nearby school district.
“Officers backed off the vehicle. They tried to deploy the spike system. The driver tried to avoid the spikes by hitting a tree. From there, the driver was apprehended and the vehicle was totaled.” Said Sgt. Jody Tittle, from Mission P.D.
The teen is liable to face charges of evading with a motor vehicle, hit and run and possibly theft as well.
