Meanwhile, thanks to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Texas teachers are getting a raise. Public school teachers in the state will receive an $800 pay raise through more than $2 billion in the A.R.R.A of 2009. The raise will be included in school budgets for the upcoming school year. If that wasn’t good enough, Texas will be eligible to apply for another $1 billion this fall.
