SPI (KFXV) — Tens of thousands of vehicles crossing into South Padre Island, over the last couple of days. Making it one of the most popular destinations for spring breakers in the nation. With thousands of people going into the island daily, an estimated 12 agencies are currently working to keep crimes at-a-minimum this spring break. HARLINGEN (KFXV) — In the city of Harlingen, police will be focusing on conducting DWI saturation patrols, beginning March 4th through the 21st. This in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation through the “Impaired Driving Mobilization Step Grant”. Port Isabel Oil Spill Gets Cleaned Up

PORT ISABEL (KFXV) — The efforts to clean up the Port Isabel channel continue, after an oil spill of several thousand gallons into the water. As of today, more than half of the diesel that spilled into the Port Isabel channel has been recovered. The 5-thousand gallons of diesel leaked Tuesday night. The U.S. Coast Guard along with local and state agencies have recovered most of diesel. The safety zone was lifted this afternoon. Missing Man’s Body Found at SPI

SPI (KFXV) — The body of a 22 year old tourist from San Antonio is found. It’s been four days that Mohammed Alsubaie has gone missing and officials have officially ended their rescue efforts south of Boca Chica Beach. Police say the body was found 8 miles from where they believe Alsubaie was last seen near Bridgepoint Condominiums near the 300 block of Padre Blvd. Investigators with the Sheriff’s department recovered the body and reported that the left arm on the cadaver was allegedly bitten by marine life.
