123 Illegal Gambling Machines Seized; 15 Face Charges

McAllen (KFXV) —More than a dozen people are in police custody tonight after officials raided the gaming establishment they were operating, this afternoon. Eight vehicles, 123 gambling machines and cash, drugs and weapons were seized from the premises of the illegally operated business located on Dicker Road and 23rd Streets south of the city of McAllen. 15 establishment employees were also detained. The operation took place at approximately 3 o’clock today, but it took investigators several hours to finish processing the scene. Edinburg Couple Arrested for Sex Trafficking

EDINBURG (KFXV) — An Edinburg couple has been convicted of sex trafficking, according to the U.S Attorney’s Office. Thirty-seven-year-old, Abelardo Gomez and 25-year-old, Cerene Ortiz pleaded guilty on “conspiring” to commit sex trafficking of minors. In March of last year, according to court documents, Gomez brought a 14 and 15-year-old female minor from Louisiana back to his home he shared with Ortiz in Edinburg. During a two-week period, investigators say the minors engaged in sex acts with numerous adult males after creating advertisements on Backpage.com. After abandoning the girls in April, the girls called 9-1-1 and reported the incident....

Animal Abuse Video Goes Viral; Leads to Arrest

MISSION (KFXV) — Caught on camera in Mission, a man faces charges after dragging a German Shepherd with his motorized scooter. The video surfaced on social media accounts, and was sent to various media outlets. 59 year old, Mario Cardona captured on video saying it is his dog and not to worry. Animal Control inspected the canine, revealing the dog had injuries. Mission police investigators made contact with the suspect at his home advising Cardona of a warrant for his arrest for animal cruelty. Cardona received a $10,000 bond. Edinburg (KFXV) — In an Hidalgo County courtroom, a former Customs and Border Protection Officer made his first appearance in an attempted murder trial. Father Charged in Death of 7-Month-Old

Edinburg (KFXV) — The father of the 7 month old baby found dead Monday is charged with capital murder. As we reported his parents called police and told them their child was unconscious.
