Brownsville (KFXV) — Sheriff investigators also looking into an officer involved shooting. They say it happened when they were called out to a domestic violence incident. When deputies arrived at the home on Paredes Road, a man identified as David Garcia tried to run one of them over causing the officer to open fire. Garcia remains at a Brownsville Hospital and will be taken into custody when released and will facing charges for trying to run over the officer and evading arrest. MERCEDES (KFXV) — A 73 year old man is behind bars after police say he attempted to shoot his neighbor. He remains behind bars tonight at the Hidalgo County jail and could face life in prison. More Than 500,000 Hoverboards Recalled After Fires, Burns

NEW YORK (AP) — More than 500,000 hoverboards are being recalled after some of the motorized scooters overheated, burned riders and damaged property. There have been 99 reports to the Consumer Product Safety Commission of hoverboard battery packs that exploded or caught fire, the U.S. regulator said Wednesday. At least 18 injuries were reported, such as burns to the neck, legs or arms, according to the CPSC. Property damages were also reported. Edcouch – A family lost their home yesterday afternoon. This happened on the 300 block of Atkins Avenue around 2 pm. The Gonzalez family had just purchased the home two weeks ago. No one was present at the time of the incident. The family tells us that two of their dogs were inside and didn’t survive. Among the damages was their family car. Man Arrested in Connection to Officer-Involved Shooting

A man is arrested in connection to an officer-involved shooting in La Joya Tuesday, has now been identified. Authorities say 28-year-old Rodolfo Tijerina Garza from Mission was the passenger in the suburban that rammed into two police units. This prompted Sgt. Pablo Alegria to fire his weapon. Officers pursued the vehicle and were able to detain Tijerina-Garza, but the driver got away. Tijerina-Garza was charged with evading arrest, a class a misdemeanor. His bond was set at $10,000. Edinburg Fire Department Rules Abandoned Mansion Fire as Arson

The Edinburg Fire Department believes the fire that destroyed the abandoned mansion of the late Mexican singer Joan Sebastian, was intentional. The home is located at the corner of Jackson Road and Canton Avenue. According to authorities the fire started around 12 midnight.
