Family Loses Home to Fire in Edcouch

Edcouch – A family lost their home yesterday afternoon. This happened on the 300 block of Atkins Avenue around 2 pm. The Gonzalez family had just purchased the home two weeks ago. No one was present at the time of the incident. The family tells us that two of their dogs were inside and didn’t survive. Among the damages was their family car. They’re receiving assistance from the Red Cross organization. Officials say an electrical issue could be the cause of the fire. Man Arrested in Connection to Officer-Involved Shooting

A man is arrested in connection to an officer-involved shooting in La Joya Tuesday, has now been identified. Authorities say 28-year-old Rodolfo Tijerina Garza from Mission was the passenger in the suburban that rammed into two police units. This prompted Sgt. Pablo Alegria to fire his weapon. Officers pursued the vehicle and were able to detain Tijerina-Garza, but the driver got away. Tijerina-Garza was charged with evading arrest, a class a misdemeanor. His bond was set at $10,000. Edinburg Fire Department Rules Abandoned Mansion Fire as Arson

The Edinburg Fire Department believes the fire that destroyed the abandoned mansion of the late Mexican singer Joan Sebastian, was intentional. The home is located at the corner of Jackson Road and Canton Avenue. According to authorities the fire started around 12 midnight. Investigators determined it was arson because the home had no water or electricity services and had been vandalized several times before. The home is now considered a total loss. Construction Light to Blame for McAllen IHOP Fire

New details on the fire that ripped through a McAllen IHOP last night. Fox 2 cameras were rolling around 8:45 pm outside the IHOP located on savannah and 10th streets. You can see the flames shooting through the roof. McAllen Fire Chief Rafael Balderas tells us the fire was started by a construction light left upside down on the building roof. A truck is set on fire and abandoned as part of an aggravated robbery in Mission. The burglary happened on the 5100 block of Siesta Street.
