Man Charged With Aggravated Assault

HARLINGEN (KFXV) — Harlingen police responded to a convenience store for reports of an assault. According to authorities, a clerk reported a man entered the store — located on the 700 block of Rio Hondo Road — carrying a knife and threatened a female employee. The suspect then fled, but a concerned citizen and police officer were able to detain the man after a brief pursuit on foot. Police identified the man as 20-year-old, Rene Martinez Jr., of Edinburg. Marissa Govena is facing charges for her involvement in an accident that caused the death of 37 year old Mary Tipton after she allegedly struck with her vehicle. MCALLEN (KFXV) — Police are looking into a woman’s death whose body was found at an apartment complex in McAllen. McAllen police investigate the death of a woman whose body was found last night inside an apartment located at the 2400 block of Hibiscus Avenue. Harlingen Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Sexual Abuse of Child

HARLINGEN (KFXV) — On Monday, a Harlingen man received a 60 year sentence for continuous sexual abuse of a child. According to authorities, 27-year-old, Kevin Kaster received 60 years for the charge, and 20 years for indecency with a child. Both sentences are to be served concurrently. The Cameron County District Attorney’s office child abuse unit collaborated with the Rio Grande Valley Child Exploitation Investigations Task Force, and the U.S. Attorney’s office to arrest, and prosecute Kaster.
