Cameron county state district judge, Arturo Nelson approved the issuance of several subpoenas in the trial of John Allen Rubio.
With this request, the personnel records of three Brownsville investigators who interrogated Rubio back in 2003 will be reviewed by the judge first before they are handed over to the attorneys.
Rubio smothered, stabbed and mutilated his three children. He was convicted and sentenced to death, but the Texas court of criminal appeals reversed the conviction and ordered a new trial a year ago. His second murder trial is scheduled for November.
