Study shows who is at risk for developing multiple Sclerosis
Carrying too much weight as a teen could increase your risk of multiple Sclerosis. A new Harvard study shows female teens who are obese appear to be more than twice as likely to develop M-S compared to their normal weight counterparts, they looked at data on nearly two hundred forty thousand women. Researchers say a reason for the link may be Vitamin D. Higher levels are thought to reduce the risk of M-S, but researchers say obese people tend to have lower “D” levels. They also think it could be substances in fatty tissue that can have a negative affect on the immune system. When somebody suffers m-s, the body’s immune system attacks the central nervous system, damaging nerves in the brain and spinal cord
