State representatives issue a new safety initiative

The high number of visitors coming in and out of the valley every year makes our region a hot spot for potential environmental and natural threats. That’s what a new state initiative thrives to protect and prepare the Rio Grande valley for. It is known as the biosecurity and import safety initiative. Its goal is to provide Texas particularly our area, with medical and public health preparedness. State representative Veronica Gonzales says the valley, more so than others needs to be prepared given that it serves as one of the largest ports of entry. “We need to be prepared to react and living on the border we are the front gate to potential disasters, potential emergencies,
