Officer Morales and Officer Rodriguez deployed one of two brand new mobile radar detectors this afternoon, as many residents prepare to kick off their Memorial Day weekend celebrations. The speed detection radar will transmit suspected speed violations for police officers to review. According to a recent traffic study conducted by the San Juan Police Department’s traffic enforcement unit, officers issue anywhere between 70 to 80 citations a week to irresponsible drivers. San Juan Police Chief, Juan Gonzalez told Fox 2 News, speeding is a huge problem, especially in residential areas. Speed enforcement, driving under the influence of alcohol and seatbelt use will be the focus of the San Juan Police Department this weekend.
