Sheriff deputies will now be watching Hidalgo County residents with the use of these two sky watch sentinels recently purchased as part of a national homeland security grant initiative.
Cities like McAllen and mission already have similar towers in place. The difference between this and other is that this one contains infrared cameras. Sheriff Lupe Trevino told Fox 2 News his office has applied for more grant money for the future purchase of 6 more mobile observation towers. The monitoring of the sky watch surveillance cameras can be done through the Internet off site. Of course sheriff deputies will continue to patrol the neighborhoods to keep our communities safe.
