Every year, local and state law enforcement agencies increase patrolling and enforcement efforts around the 4th of July holiday to minimize the number of car accidents. This year’s crackdown on drunk driving begins at midnight. The zero tolerance impaired driver mobilization operation will include cities like San Juan and McAllen where drinking and driving has become a big problem especially during this holiday. The best thing to do is to plan a safe way home before the festivities begin (i.e. a designated driver).
Alcohol is a major factor in fatal crashes during the July 4th holiday. Known by law enforcement as the single deadliest day of the year.
Whether you’ve had way too many or just one too many, it’s not worth the risk. Remember, impaired driving has serious consequences.
