At Bowie Elementary, district school officials and faculty forced students to return to their classrooms after a long waited field day. Meanwhile at PSJA Memorial High School, students were confined to their classrooms as buildings were shut down and authorities were on the hunt for two individuals on the run suspected to be in the area after fleeing a routine traffic stop. “.today the DPS is searching for two possible or future defendants, they are trying to locate and capture them and we are trying to safe guard the schools..” said Hidalgo County Judge J.D. Salinas. The precautionary safety measure at both schools took place at around 9:35 Thursday morning . Alamo Police, deputy constables, along with DPS officials, where on a desperate search for the individuals looking for the suspects in residences near the schools. Aid was also provided by helicopters. The lockdown lasted approximately 15 minutes. The decision to go in a lockdown came as an emergency safety measure in an attempt to ensure the safety of students and staff. “
