Published reports in Mexico detail a running gun battle in Valle Hermoso, where at least five people were reported to have been killed.

The shootout Wednesday is believed to have been between rival drug cartels in Valle Hermoso, which is about 25 miles southwest of Matamoros. Schools were reportedly closed today in response to the violence. The gun battle was apparently between members of the Gulf cartel and drug rival Los Zetas.
