Riot in Reynosa turns deadly

A prison riot in the Mexican border town of Reynosa has left some prisoners dead.
Authorities surrounded the prison with soldiers and police earlier today and were negotiating with inmates to get access to a section that was consumed by a fire.
An official with civil protection in Reynosa, across from McAllen, Texas, said there are some dead, but did not give a number. Mexican authorities have estimated the number to be at around 21 victims.
It is unclear if the fire, which was brought under control, was set deliberately or began by accident. The riot began Sunday and continued Monday. The cause was unknown.
