The rain this weekend may have ruined the barbeques and Fourth of July festivities but it is helping the valley push away from the drought.
The rainfall, which started on The first of July, has piled up to about four inches across the valley and has helped to put back moisture in the top layers of the soil. Although the threat of grassfires are still in effect.
Because it has been a while since it has rained, vehicles have been dropping oil onto roadways creating a slick surface. Several vehicles were involved in accidents this weekend due to high speeds and slick surfaces.
According to the national weather service the valley could end up with ten inches of rainfall by the end of Tuesday.
Several cities including Raymondville, Harlingen and San Benito have reported flooding so remember to drive safely and cautiously on those slippery roadways.
