Pregnant Cashier Punched in Robbery

The Worst part is, the victim is 7 months pregnant.
Shortly after 8 o’clock Friday morning, a man entered El Gallo de Oro Mexican restaurant located at the 1100 block of East University drive in Edinburg. According to police, the suspect was acting suspicious as he entered the place and approached the clerk. The individual struck the clerk on the face multiple times with his fist until she ultimately handed over the $30 that were in the register. Erika Ovalle, the victim’s coworker told fox 2 news she was taken to McAllen Medical Center due to her condition. After the suspect got his way, he fled the scene but not for long. Two hours later he was located and arrested by Edinburg police officers. According to official reports, this is the third aggravated robbery in Edinburg this week. Police told Fox 2 News, people who commit these types of crimes are more likely looking for ways to make easy money to support a drug habit. The pregnant victim is in stable condition at McAllen medical center tonight. As for the suspect, he is expected to be arraigned Saturday afternoon on aggravated robbery charges.
