Police officer recovers after being doused with gasoline

A Palm Hurst police officer is recuperating tonight after being doused with gasoline at a stripes convenience store located at the intersection of Conway and 3 mile line.

According to officers, a man who was allegedly drunk began exchanging words with the officer and then sprayed his face with gasoline. Back-up units arrived shortly and the suspect was arrested without incident. Police chief, Michael Vela, says the officer is doing okay.

The man is expected to receive several charges including assaulting a police officer.
