Police Officer Injured in Line of Duty

A chase with an alleged drug smuggler sends a police officer to the hospital.
At about 6 o’clock this morning a Palmview police officer attempted to pull over the driver of a pick-up truck that was driving erratically. However the driver refused to stop and lead the officer on a chase where shortly after, he crashed into a barricade off expressway 83 and Brey Fogle road in mission. The suspect managed to get away but not before plunging the pick-up into the Rio Grande River near Anzalduas park.
As for the narcotics in the vehicle, they were received by individuals on the Mexican side of the river. The officer injured in the incident was sent to the hospital where his condition is un-known.
