A routine traffic stop lands two men behind bars and leads to the seizure of more than 20 kilos of cocaine.
Police say they’ve received a tip of a trailer traveling on Expressway 83 in Penitas around 9:15pm Monday.
Officers spotted the vehicle and pulled the driver over.
Upon further inspection of the vehicle, Penitas Police Officers were able to recover 23.9 kilos of cocaine found in a hidden compartment.
Penitas Police Chief, Raul Bermea, tells FOX 2 NEWS, the driver and passenger were arrested on the spot for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
The case has been handed over to the DEA Office in McAllen.
