After a meeting with democrats house speaker Nancy Pelosi says members are closer to a vote on healthcare reform but won’t necessarily make the white house imposed deadline.
The CBO report is a final estimate of the cost of the health care overhaul– democrats believe it’s just less than a trillion dollars over 10 years.
Pelosi also says when the report is released democrats will take at least a week to review it.
As for the white house, press secretary Robert Gibbs acknowledges the house may not meet next week’s deadline for passing health care, but stressed the need to act sooner rather than later.
Republicans remain unanimously opposed to the legislation claiming the real cost is about two-and-a-half trillion dollars and they criticized democrats for talking about voting before the actual cost is revealed.
GOP leaders are doubtful democrats will have the votes needed to pass healthcare reform in the house.
