Pancreatic cancer danger

Pancreatic cancer is often called a silent disease because it rarely shows early symptoms however it is the fourth leading cause of of death in the United States.

Fox spoke with local oncologist Dr. Satish Desai who explained what types of symptoms can be indicators of pancreatic cancer.

Diet and obesity have been linked to this type of cancer. Smokers and those who do not exercise are also at risk. Chronic Pancreatitis is also a red flag.

Diabetes is also considered a risk factor. Several tests and imaging techniques are used in order to see if the cancer exists and to find out how far it has spread.

Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy are the most common treatment types. The treatment depends on the stage of the cancer.For more information please call Dr. Desai at 956 668-1111.
