Over 1000 pounds of marijuana seized
November 10, 2008 | News
An early morning pursuit leads police to un-cover mass amounts of marijuana.
Authorities say they began to follow a vehicle they suspected was carrying drugs on green road and military highway. When instructed to pull over, the vehicle persisted down south Abraham road until it plunged into the banks of the Rio Grande.
“It was a good size load. this load actually took up the entire bed of a pick-up truck, the back seat of that same pick-up truck and the front seat passenger space. i don’t know the exact weight on it, but its going to be well in excess of 1000 pounds of marijuana.”
Officials say the suspect behind the wheel of the truck was supposed to move the drugs from one vehicle to another, however, the man fled into the water and onto Mexican soil. The seizure is part of operation river freedom denial… the zero tolerance policy for organized crime in or out of the country.
