Operation Lonestar in the Valley
August 7, 2008 | News
Operation lone star, a joint effort between the National Guard with local and state agencies, is rounding out its tenth year of providing free healthcare services for citizens of the valley. General healthcare, dental, and vision are among some of the services provided free of charge. Unfortunately free doesn’t always make everyone happy.
Of course, although extremely important to the effort, volunteers only make up one part of operation Lonestar. Texas military personnel take advantage of this annual opportunity to offer real training for their men and women. Col Bill Morgan, who himself is a trauma surgeon, tells fox 2 news that their staff of trained medical professionals has been hard at work offering top grade medical attention to the valley.
However, there is still time to get care on the inside. And don’t forget about those back to school immunizations.
You can still take advantage of operation lone star’s services tomorrow in the city of Zapata at Zapata middle school or in Rio Grande city at the sixth grade campus of fort Ringgold middle school. Certainly operation Lonestar has earned the title of the largest annual humanitarian effort in the country
