Good news for pregnant woman suffering from breast cancer. Researchers with M-D Anderson cancer center in Texas say pregnant women who have breast cancer do not have a higher risk of death. The study — one of the largest ever done on the subject — says pregnancy also does not increase the chances of breast cancer returning. Previous smaller studies found just the opposite. But doctor Alanna Levine says advancements in treatment have helped breast cancer patients still safely carry a child.
“You can use certain modalities of chemotherapy and undergo surgery when you are pregnant so the bottom line is that you do not have to choose between yourself and your baby, you actually can do something that’s safe for both of you,
