Navarro replacement finally selected

One of the most publicized and controversial job openings in recent Hidalgo county history has finally been filled. Teresa Navarro’s replacement for elections administrator has been hired.
Last Friday the approximately 65 candidates for the position of Hidalgo county elections administrator was widdled down to 4. Today after a short closed door session of the Hidalgo county elections commission, one last round of interviews with the remaining candidates and a couple of hours of deliberation a decision was made…
Yvonne Ramon, who will be leaving her job with the McAllen independent school district, says, “the position just called to her.”
Ramon, a resident of McAllen, was entering her tenth year as an educator. She has a masters in educational leadership which she received from the university of Texas Pan American and although she does not have extensive experience with elections administration she expects and counts on the support of the Hidalgo county commissioners…
Arguably Ramon’s most important task: restoring integrity to the Hidalgo county elections office. Fortunately she says to be up to the challenge.
The Hidalgo county elections commission has asked for help from the secretary of state to run their November elections since it is not expected that Yvonne Ramon will be ready in time.
