Navarro pleads guilty, Given 10 years probation

The former elections administrator for Hidalgo county has pleaded guilty for her part in a 2008 theft investigation.

Teresa Navarro was given ten years probation and ordered to pay back 15-thousand dollars in restitution as part of her plea agreement. Prosecutors say Navarro and three of her co-workers used nearly 50-thousand dollars of taxpayer money for personal use. Navarro plead guilty this morning to three counts of theft by a public servant, one count of tampering with government documents, and one count of abuse of official capacity. Two of Navarro’s co-defendants in the case have already entered guilty pleas. The third is expected to do the same later this week.
