On February 26th, mission police responded to a 911 call of a shooting. 36-year-old Ruben Varela had been shot 8 times in a model home in the redstone subdivision of mission. Today Jose Juan Varela, suspect in the murder of his brother 46 year-old Ruben Varela was arraigned for the charge of capital murder. Although his lawyer, Ricardo Salinas, asked for a lenient bond citing that his client was not a flight risk judge Jonathan Wehrmeister decided instead to not offer any bond. The obvious question remains: why would Jose Juan Varela want to kill his younger brother? However, his lawyer, Ricardo Salinas refutes these claims.
The investigation has revealed that Jose Juan Varela allegedly put out a hit on his brother through this man, Marco Antonio Hernandez. Hernandez in turn hired 21-year-old Josue Gonzalez Rodriguez to actually pull the Rigger and phone records allegedly show these three men called each other minutes before and after the hit on that fateful February night. As of today, Marco Antonio Hernandez and Jose Juan Varela are both in police custody however, mission police are asking for your help to capture Josue Gonzalez Rodriguez.
