They have in-turn, arrested an alleged accomplice in the case.
Officials say Ernesto Castillo Rodriguez confessed to playing a role in the death of 35-year-old Laura Isabel Reyes. He was charged with capital murder and given a $500,000 bond. Reyes was kidnapped, beaten over the head with a stone and dumped near m. Davila road and FM-490 in Hargill last week. Sheriff Lupe Trevino says the call is too disturbing and will not be released. However, the main suspect in the case, Reyes’ ex-boyfriend, 33-year-old Jose Juan Sanchez is still at large. Officials believe the crime may have been one of passion. Court documents say the two had already been separated, but Sanchez threatened Reyes that if she ever moved on, he would kill her. Sanchez is believed to have fled to Illinois with family. Any information on his whereabouts can be made by calling the Hidalgo County Crimestoppers line at 668-8477.
