Mother charged after baby is beaten severely

The mother of the 13-month-old child that was taken to a Corpus Christi Driscoll children’s hospital as a result of the physical abuse received by her mother’s boyfriend is now behind bars.
Joann Gonzalez of Weslaco is charged with failing to care and protect her daughter.
According to sources, Gonzalez told doctors at the time that she believed the injuries came from the girl’s 3-year-old brother or as a result of her daughter hitting the crib she slept in.
Gonzalez faces a 30 thousand dollar bond.
The child had several skull fractures, a broken arm and bruises.
Authorities charged Americo Prado with injury to a child.
