The Texas Department of Health and Human Services and local H-E-B stores are working together to sign up families for the children’s health insurance program…better known as chip. Starting Saturday, June 13th and every second Saturday of the month, from June through October, local community-based organizations will help families fill out the necessary forms to obtain government-supported children’s health insurance. Currently there are 2.4 million children enrolled in either children’s medicaid or chip and there are 700,000 children who qualify but are not yet enrolled.
