A new study out of medical university in Austria found people with migraines are more likely to develop blood clots in their veins.
The condition — known as venous thrombosis — limits blood flow and can cause swelling, pain and even death.
One hundred and eleven people, age fifty-five and up, participated in the study — and, nineteen percent had the condition.
Researchers don’t know why the two are linked, but one theory is the blood of migraine sufferers may be more prone to clotting.
