Mercedes Names New Superintendent

The Mercedes Independent School District has a new superintendent. As of Monday night, Beto Gonzalez was approved for the job. Gonzalez, former Deputy Superintendent of Brownsville schools, replaces Walter Watson who will re-assume his position with the district as its federal programs director. Gonzalez, who was chosen selected from 28 other candidates, will be the districts fourth superintendent in about five years.
