McAllen Towing Company Being Sued for Swindling Customers

Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbot made a trip to the valley, charging a McAllen towing company with multiple legal violations.
The states enforcement action specifically cites AM-PM Towing and its owners Ryder and Karen Oxford for fraudulent practices.
“In this lawsuit that we filed here in the valley today we are seeking and adjunct from a.m.-p.m. towing prohibiting them from any further illegal conduct in the state of Texas, we are seeking up to $20,000 in damages per violation against act…..restituion and attorney fees,” said Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot.
The company is accused of employing a vehicle storage facility worker and a tow operator who were both unlicensed, operating tow trucks without a permit, failing to accept credit and debit cards, as it advertised and over- charging customers for their non-consent tows, among other allegations.
According to Abbot, investigators found one instance in which AM-PM charged more than $2,000 for a tow when it should have charged only $85.
