McAllen Teacher Arrested for Sexual Relationship with Student

30-year-old Ricardo Garcia Jr, a teacher at the Idea Quest Academy in McAllen, was arrested Wednesday and is accused of sustaining an intimate relationship with a 14 year old student. Garcia, was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault, four counts of sexual assault, and one count of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. According to court documents, Garcia and the female student began their relationship in May 2008. Fox 2 News spoke to the Idea Quest Academy School Principal, Scott Hollinger who said they were stunned by his arrest. The court document reads Garcia and the teenage student would frequently exchange text messages and on mother’s day last year, he reportedly told her he loved her. Garcia allegedly had contact with the girl at the movies where they kissed and touched each other.
