During 2011, there were at total of 6, 120 offenses in the entire City of McAllen. That’s a 20.5% decrease when compared to 2010.
In terms of violent crimes, there were 4 homicides, 27 rapes, 72 robberies, and 143 aggravated assaults. Overall an 18% decrease compared to last year’s totals.
When we look at property crimes, such as burglaries, theft, and motor vehicle thefts McAllen police report a 20.6% decrease compared to 2010.
The chief of police said the numbers reflect a joint effort between the residents of McAllen and the law enforcement community.
According to the annual crime report, the month in which more crimes were reported in 2011 was July with 605 offenses and February stands as the month with the lowest number of incidents reported.
