McAllen Celebrates International Women’s Day

MCALLEN (KFXV) — The city of McAllen honored 300 women today – recognizing their work in the community as part of the city’s celebration of International Women’s Day.

The women highlighted today, hold jobs that were previously only held by the opposite sex.

According to McAllen officials, the city has 34 departments, in which 18 women hold management positions. According to the Department of Labor, women make up 47 percent of the U.S. Workforce, and 70 percent of women with children under the age of 18 participate in the labor force.
