McAllen Apartment Fire at Camino Real

In McAllen, the Camino Real Apartments were on fire this afternoon. Over 20 units were evacuated as fire crews fought the flames. Reports indicate that the fire started in one of the closets in the lower level corner apartment.

One man was transported to McAllen Medical Hospital and then later air lifted to San Antonio for medical care. He was receiving artificial life, and there were signs indicating that smoking was not allowed. Unfortunately, the smoke from the fire that was several feet away affected him.

At this moment, there’s no word on what caused the fire. Investigators will return to the scene tomorrow. The residents of the apartment where the fire took place say they used the fire extinguisher but it was no match.
