The man responsible for the shooting of a Harlingen police officer awaits his punishment, two days after he plead guilty for attempted capital murder. This afternoon, the jury of the 357th judicial district court continued to hear testimony from several witnesses in the case of Abraham Mar jr. Who intended to kill officer Carlos Diaz June of this year. Originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, mar faces a possible sentence of 25 to 99 years in prison due to his previous criminal record. He previously confessed to sergeant Miriam Anderson of the Harlingen police department to shooting at the officer ten times during a traffic stop at the intersection of F Street and Buchanan Avenue. After committing the crime he fled to Mexico in a white car, swam across the river, but Mexican authorities later turned him over to the Brownsville police department. Mar also told Anderson that he pulled the trigger out of frustration with police officers. He claims that would get arrested frequently because he does not have a social security number and can’t get a driver
