Man jumps off 30- feet bridge (Caught on Video)

A 28-year-old Donna man remains hospitalized tonight after authorities say he tried to take his own life. The man threatened to throw himself off an expressway 83 overpass last night and eventually did jump from about 30-feet up. Shortly after 6 pm Pharr police arrived at expressway 83 near Cage Street, where the wife of 28- year-old, Donna resident Adrian Nevane, tried everything in her power to keep her distraught husband from throwing himself from the overpass like he had been threatening to do. Nevane recently lost his job and had been drinking and his wife says he was depressed. Pharr police Lt. Guadalupe Salinas tells Fox 2 news the Nevane’s wife immediately called police as well as received various calls alerting them of a man drinking on the shoulder of the highway.

Nevane did not die in what police believe was a suicide attempt. Police say that while the hostage negotiator tried to talk Nevano away from the ledge, Nevano continued to drink. Lt. Salinas confirms that Nevano is in stable condition at a local hospital with no sign of broken bones or internal injuries. He will be kept under medical observation for the time being. Police will attempt to have him admitted for a psychiatric evaluation.
